I remember the VIX part, I think he said the 125 area. We will have tripped all the breakers and closed early the previous day before we see that kind of panic, i.e. a four digit intraday decline -- maybe even two in a row.

Whenever I've gotten into this kind of discussion before, people seem to think that the Fed and/or the Prez would (attempt to) pre-empt a panic by putting a legal moratorium on mutual fund redemptions to staunch the flow in the 1933 bank holiday tradition. Sorry Mom & Pop, you can't get out, at least not before I've had a chance to re-brainwash you as to why you shouldn't sell.

How about you, MD? Do you think the government would rush in like that, or would they stand aside and just let the chips fall where they may?
