He'd personally like to see all of the warlords "removed" (politically or "terminally") and the US dealing more at a grass roots level to create a new power structure in the country that provides a measure of justice and fairness.

And as you told him, more politely than I would, We would like ice cream in hell. We had to go with the power structure that was there. I saw the pictures of our SF guys guarding the President, and killing the Assassin, yesterday. I hate like hell that we are providing this type of service. If the guy has so little support he cannot even get trustworthy bodyguards from his own people, what chance have we to really keep him and his ilk in power?

We can't get away with it, but we would probably be better off to kill off any Al Queda we can find, pull out, and go back in if they get back in power. The threat of us going back in would probably keep them out of power. Hack did a recent column on this, and was pissed about the attrition rate we are suffering,at the moment, in casualties there. We are probably going to take more, and for no good reason.
