Can my husband be there with me? :-)

Mine would include him (and various unnamed activities in which he is involved), a great book (I've got Mark Estrin's "Insect Dreams" on my night table screaming to be read) and the cooking of a lovely meal.

We'd have a couple of good bottles of wine, some fresh fish, good bread and ingredients to make a salad and a fruit tart. We'd open a bottle while I cook, and talk as the meal is being prepared.

Then a magic elf would clean the kitchen.

How about you? What's your perfect day?

A drive out to the Blue Ridge mountains (the Virginia piedmont is lovely). Ride Skyline Drive. Lunch at one of the cabin areas, perhaps take a little walk in the woods. Drive back to the Beltway, head north to Great Falls. Visit the park, where there are falls and rapids on the Potomac, then head over to L'Auberge Chez Francois for Alsatian/French dining. After dinner, go down to the George Washington Parkway for some of the best views of the Washington skyline. Head over to Washington on Interstate 395, which takes you to the Mall. Check that out, then head up Connecticut Avenue, eventually getting to Chevy Chase, some of the most expensive residential real estate in the world. Ride through to see some of the neighborhoods, assuming twilight. Then return home to Bethesda, the second best location in the Maryland suburbs.......

The Perfect way to spend a day, you ask, been there done that. <Though I must admit, it's been a long time. I'd do it all over again though. But this time the sitter would have to watch 4 kids!!>
