I had that exact discussion with a friend of mine this morning who didn't even remember that the Gulf War had ended with an agreement which allowed UN monitoring and inspections, and that Saddam had restricted the inspector's activities and essentially forced them to leave and not return. I started talking about how it had been wrong to allow Hitler to build up the Luftwaffe in violation of the Treaty of Versailles, and the reaction was, "I don't remember any such agreement to end the Gulf War."

I think it is time for Bush to stop saber rattling and start laying out a rational case, with supporting evidence, for why this is the right thing to do.
