Searle, unfortunately the US helped create Saddam, so I suppose we are responsible to get rid of him. Some say it will destabilize the Middle East. Quite frankly, I don't see anything happening that could destabilize it worse than it already is. Wars happen there like a dishwasher running its cycle. The only question is whether or not it's set on extra wash.

Others say that more US invovement will cause new hordes of suicide bombing Islamic extremist youth to rise up. On the other hand, if we do nothing at all, we may indeed encourage them to move forward towards a coup de gras of some sort.

As for the Iraqi children, I do sympathize. I once sposored an Arab child when I was attending university 15 years ago. Do I wish to see any of them bombed...of course not. After 911 small solutions probably only encourage more mayhem. Iraq is the only Islamic country that allows Christian worship--did you know that? Not saying local persecutions of minority religions isn't the norm anyway.
