Re: aiding intentional homicide

If Americans get hit again, and IF the relatives of those who are killed want to sue for "aiding intentional homicide"....seems like there would be a big list to choose from....

'they're ours; we built them; we're using them'

defense bases do not enjoy (AFAIK), the same privileges of diplomatic embassy status. If so, this has the potential for an ugly scenario.

Nadine, I feel most of the threat from Iraq is aimed at Israel, with the Saudis as the second major target. Once the heavy metal starts up, I won't be surprised to see Al Qaida and Hizbollah getting jiggy targeting government officials from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Afghanistan and attacks stirring up the Kashmir potboiler - all of whom it's now in our strategic interest to defend.

Germany, Belgium (NATO), the UK and the US (at least) are likely to see sporadic attacks too, from terrorist cells.

It makes sense to do have others do some precautionary reading, to know the best way to respond to bio & chem weapons, just in case. (Btw, this is another area where I feel our govt has been deficient. Homeland security means teaching us what to do IF...).

In addition to the New Yorker article, which demonstrates why attic hideouts make more sense than cellars, I think folks should consider the details of the recent attacks in Kabul.

As I recall, a bicyclist tossed a small explosion into a group of people. When it detonated, others rushed in to aid the wounded. Then the larger, previously planted bomb went off. This suggests a tactic designed to maximize casualties in crowds. It might be wise to wait 30 seconds after the first blast to respond to our natural humanitarian impulses.

As well, does anyone still have the links or address to get UW's book? If not, I think the PDR Guide to Biological and Chemical Warfare Response book oughta be mandatory: search.barnesandnoble.com
