That means that he's somewhat privy to certain information, I would wager. And his statement, JUST BEFORE BUSH ADDRESSES THE UN, could be a deliberate leak of Smoking Gun" information that ties Atta to Hussein.

That's very unlikely, in my humble opinion, Hawk.

Ever since the ad hoc meeting in Texas, there has been a more consistent effort on the Bush administration to wage a pre-emptive war on Saddam based upon his attempts to develop WMDs, in violation of UN specifications. The administration has been very deliberate in toning down the rhetoric on linking Iraq to al-Qaida and the events of 9/11. There is a very good reason for this: the evidence tying Iraq to al-Qaida is lacking.

My point is that the report was huge news since, if it is true, it provides justification for an attack. The statement by Perle, had it actually been made, would have been plastered all over the global media.

Not a single news agency, apparently not even Agence France-Presse, the alleged "source" for the report, carried the story.

It was BS, known or easily knowable as BS when linked here, and easily proven to be BS.
