The administration has been very deliberate in toning down the rhetoric on linking Iraq to al-Qaida and the events of 9/11.

There is another potential scenario to consider. It could be that Perle knows that such information exists to support his views and that the administration has been unwilling to compromise intelligence sources by making the information public. (such information would likely ONLY come from a CLOSELY placed spy in Saddam's circle).

Perle may be trying to force Bush's hand in revealing such information.
