Yes, it is too bad that the move pre- empted our usual summer trip to New York. I like Eakins, but he is not among my favorites. Maybe a retrospective would have forced a reassessment. The National Gallery had a couple of wonderful Chinese shows in the last few years, one from Beijing and one from Taiwan. I can imagine the bronzes would be beautiful. I am also fond of medieval tapestry, and, of course, the Met already has a wonderful collection of various objets d'art from the period. (The Limoges ceramics are wonderful). I have not been able to face the crowds for the Egyptian exhibit at the National (besides, I have seen a lot of Egyptian art in my time), nor have I made it to the Stieglitz. I have to consult my calendar to see if I have a chance, now that the tourists are gone and the air is not so awful. I will keep an eye out, to see if any of the shows you mention travel here.....
