US bases attacked in Afghanistan
(Filed: 11/09/2002)

Three US bases in Afghanistan are reported to have been attacked by gunmen.

A man fired shots at the Bagram Air Base, the US military headquarters in Afghanistan and rockets were fired at bases in Khost and Gardez. There were no casualties in any of the incidents.

The main road through the Bagram base, the main base for the 8,000 US soldiers who are based in Afghanistan, was temporarily shut to enable troops to secure the perimeter.

Shortly after the incident, reports came through that at least four rockets had been fired at an airfield at Khost and another two at Gardez.

Hi D. Long; Re "US bad cop to the British good cop. Lining up the ducks."

While that does look like the game plan, the problem is that the tactic doesn't work when the lawyers and judges are around. What Bush has to do is to convince the world community to back him, and playing "bad cop" doesn't make any progress in that.
