"Lets take care of Iraq after the election."

Even if the UN passes a resolution authorizing coercive inspections - which it probably will but still remains an "if" - the matter is unlikely to be resolved before the November elections.

The Saddam regime is fighting for its life. No way in hell does it want UNMOVIC (United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission) to have unfettered access to anything and everything in Iraq. Too many skeletons in the closet - literally and figuratively.

But the path that we are presently committed to has bought Saddam some time.

After Bush's speech yesterday I no longer expect war to be imminent, although I think it remains inevitable.
