Horowitz, I think the place to start a discussion about compliance with UN mandates is the illegal, immoral and counterproductive occupation of the West Bank by a band of devious imperialists in complete disregard for international law and all sense of moral decency. When you address this, I'll address the picayune points you are trying to raise as nit-picking tres petite justifications for the bully boy preemptive aggression being proposed against Iraq. -R.

these arguments about justification or not in invading IRAQ are pretty mute. WHY?? Because like it or not IRAQ is building nuke weapons, almost nobody disputes that. The fact is it is not in our strategic interest to garnish that much power to someone in that geopolitical position. Its really that simple. The Govt of the USA is paid to protect the interests and property of America. If free flowing oil, and the removal of terrorist Nukelear attacks are not a clear and present danger to AMerica, then what is? In ancient Rome the barbarians stood outside the gates of Rome for 400 years before finally sacking ROME on succesive ocasions. In the early days Rome went out and defeated these forces before they could garner enough strength to threaten ROME's massive empire. When Rome stoped haveing the will, or the means to go out and conquer these hordes was the begining of the end of Rome. Does America wait for the barbarians(surly its a perfect label)to Sack New York, or washington or do we take the fight to them? The fact is eventially, like Hitler in the 30's they will eventially come to your doorstep. Anyone here spewing this nonsense of need's of justification are simply foolish,liberal and greatly undereducated in History. Frankly its always better to be c autious and assume the worst then vice versa. IMHO
