Everyone else who lives off the government economy indirectly, perhaps including yourself, also benefits, including all those companies you mention. My husband works for the Patent Office, and I am trying to get a job working for the feds, myself, now that the kids are getting to college age. A large percentage of my clients and my neighbors work for the feds, directly, or for a government contractor, but more of them are in telecom or computers than defense industries. I don't see any support for terrorists and warlords here. Last week we debated Zbigniew Brzezinski's assertion (which turned out to be true) that the US began covert aid to the mujahideen in Afghanistan under the Carter administration, not, as was previously thought, under Reagan. The Soviets, of course, thought that the mujahideen were terrorists. Just one more example of the argument that "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist." We debate that one a lot here. I think the better argument is that terrorists target civilians, freedom fighters target military and essential civilian infrastructure.
