Loral can hire them back when they need them in January. The major engineering companies in the world do it all the time. They hire when they have a project. No project no jobs. When there is a project the old timers come knocking. Where else is a layed off satellite engineer going to go? I suppose they can take up day trading. If they do, they should be ready to go back to work building satellites by January.

I understand SSL already has a plan in place to be profitable with only 2 sat awards per year. I guess they can survive without hiring anyone back.
