Hi E Charters,

Great post! You've really hit the nail on the head.

[[Aside: I especially found Drawback #1 to be amusing and perceptive. Been there, done that. <gg> ]]

All the best, Ray

Here are drawbacks #11 and #12:

11. SubjectMarks should indicate the number of 'subscribers'.

I tend to remove my own SubjectMarks reluctantly. If I'm not long, I may still be interested for another time. If I post a new message to a marked subject that has been inactive for two years, I want to know if 30 other people will see it or if no one else subscribes. Why should I be the sole subscriber to a dead thread? I'll remove it sooner, rather than later.

12. PeopleMarks should indicate the number of 'subscribers'.

If 400 people have marked one member, he must be good (or at least controversial). I'll pay more attention to him, maybe mark him myself.

I'd like to know how many (if any) have marked me. I'd understand that those who have marked me might not want me to know their identities. So I'd like to know "how many", leaving out the "who" as a privacy question.
