Raymond, this is not particularly a "palatable spin." The plan was written in 1997, 3 years before Bush even declared he was going to run. Sounds like a "Clinton-esque plan" to me. Why didn't that article note that? I know you can't answer that rhetorical question, but it DID beg to be asked...... Secondly, SO THE HELL WHAT!!! Frankly, I'm "comforted" that these concepts and battleplans and defense think tanks are out there and looking at the many facets of an issue regardless of who is in the oval office. Do you truly want to live in a world where the President of the USA gets up some morning and goes, "Well, Golly-Gee! I think I'll pick on _____________ now." YUCK! IRAQ is just one of multiple targeted problems where America's defenses are concerned. Perhaps if it would have been listed to after it was codified in 1997, there would have been no 9/11 in WA DC, NY, and PA!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and one more thing.... just because use Joe and Suzie plebes don't know about everything thunk up by these think tanks doesn't mean the are "secret." I didn't like that "inference" either. If this was "so secret" when did it get declassified and why are we just now hearing about it 5 years after the codification???? Are we going to be treated to a "syrian" treatise when we attack Syria? or a Saudi treatise when we take back the oil bidness Eisenhower foolishly gave away in the 50's to Saudi blackmailers?
