EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 2002--Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE:IN; FSE:IN), a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals, today announced it has been selected by Knowles Electronics, the world's leading provider of transducers, microphones and receivers to the hearing health industry, to provide distribution and global access to its mission-critical enterprise resource planning (ERP) application. Leveraging The World Network® from Infonet, Knowles employees receive 24/7 access to financial, order management, inventory control and advanced manufacturing applications across 11 plants and offices ranging from remote locations in China, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany and the U.S.

For more than 50 years Knowles Electronics Holdings, Inc. has been the world's leading manufacturer of transducers and related components used in hearing aids. The company also manufactures acoustic components used in voice recognition, telephony and Internet applications, as well as automotive solenoids and sensors. Knowles controls the manufacturing process through relentless quality standards and product validation. Knowles Electronics continues to enhance its leadership position by linking exceptional transducer design with the development of key technologies to enable advanced manufacturing processes. The company is owned by Doughty Hanson & Co., one of Europe's largest independent private equity fund managers.

When Knowles decided to transition from a basic infrastructure that handled file sharing, email and other business applications to a global, centralized ERP system capable of implementing its manufacturing and order management, Knowles sought two partners -- one to provide the ERP application and the other to provide the global infrastructure. After an extensive evaluation process and with criteria that included global reach, redundancy, 24/7 support and a competitive price, the company selected Infonet to provide the global infrastructure and Oracle to provide the ERP system. According to Rich Dase, Director of Information Technology for Knowles, "One of the primary objectives we had was to better manage our inventory, reduce costs and be able to move product lines as necessary between our manufacturing facilities. After a successful pilot program with Infonet we deployed our ERP system, consolidated manufacturing and centralized information access which have all generated very positive results. We directly attribute these results to the redundant global network and support we receive from Infonet."

"We are very pleased to provide the global infrastructure and cost-savings that Knowles required to maintain its advanced manufacturing capabilities in today's competitive business environment," remarked Larry Malone, President of Infonet USA.
