Infonet's service allows the running of voice, video, and data applications over Infonet's global IP network with guaranteed quality of service/class of service. As part of the company's strategy, Infonet will provide multinational enterprises the capability to migrate current ISDN video and circuit switched voice to its voice and video over IP service. For some time, multinationals have been seeking the economies of scalability and cost-savings while leveraging newer multimedia-rich integrated applications. In response to this market demand, Infonet is rolling out a global, fully managed approach extending the normal service demarcation to the desktop which allows for a complete outsourcing of all voice and video services. "It is critical for service providers to be in a position to quickly meet varying levels of demand from multinational corporations throughout the world," said Tim Dillon, Principal Analyst, Europe, Current Analysis. "With the United States and Europe leading the push towards truly converged services, Infonet's strong position in both markets means they are well placed to lead the charge," added Dillon. "Infonet is now witnessing a market demand for voice and video over IP. In satisfying this demand, we can deliver unparalleled global support for multinationals migrating from circuit switched-based to packet-based networks by leveraging the scale and strength of our global network," said Kent Lowell, Senior Director, Multimedia Services, Infonet. "By building on our reputation as a leading IP solutions provider, we are adding this next-generation approach to fulfill growing client demand." Infonet is adopting a phased approach in the launch of its converged services. The current phase focuses around Infonet's proactive partnering with strategic multimedia equipment vendors, conversion of non-IP voice services to IP voice; expanded management and reporting capabilities for the IP voice and video services enables the company to project manage global customer implementations. Subsequent phases will include the general global availability of Infonet's IP VPN network service supporting both voice and video, including the management of voice and video customer premises equipment and application specific SLAs.
