"I don't expect to be around when they start thinking "Israel" instead of "the Zionist Entity". "

>> The only solution depends on Arab credibility. The Arabs have the most to gain, the "land". They also seem to have a big problem changing their world view. I don't expect to be around when they start thinking "Israel" instead of "the Zionist Entity".

Cary, There is no such thing as "Arab" nation, or common position, or even belief in mutual interest. Rulers of Arab countries have sought individual client relationships with western powers precisely to insure that any ember of Pan Arab Nationalism would be stomped out.

So Arab credibility is irrelevant. What will remain though, is the conflict in the name of religion. That does not arise from a sense of solidarity with Palestinians, but just takes advantage of their misery to keep the mosque area from falling into Jewish hands. And the harsher and more collective reprisals just create fresh recruits for these suicide attacks.

By the way, Machiavelli advised his young prince to kill his enemy, if it was unavoidable, but make sure not to take his land. Because a new generation will in time forget about a dead ancestor. But the land is always there as reminder.

Much like yourself, I don't expect to live long enough to see that form of change. The optimist in me points to quick and surprising fall of the Iron Curtain, but the realist sees otherwise. I suspect we are entering another are of world tension.
