I'm wondering if states that have a lot of tech companies will be looking to revoke foreign work visas eventually. Thinking along the lines of all of the silicon valley companies that have large asian employee bases.

Smithee, last night on our local news they showed a tech worker packing up his things to leave Austin. We have had over 30,000 layoffs since January 2001 and more are projected.

I have a 38 year old friend who has been out of work since January when she was laid off. She is a very good manager of customer support for high tech companies. One software company had her manage branch offices for a year in Paris, France, and then a year in Dublin, Ireland. She is willing to take a huge pay cut and is having trouble even getting interviews... there are hardly any tech jobs in Austin.
