<<our main difference now is that USA ALLOWS BANKRUPTCIES>>

The US will - at times, under enough pressure - allow immigration, thus preventing as complete an aging of our our population as has been seen in Japan - providing some support for property prices.

but you know, something doesn't add up. We all know JPM came out & told the press the banks weren't involved in defrauding the public, the banks were all defrauded by the Enron's & Worldcom's & ... same as the public at large BUT
if that is true, WHY did these two jokers at Merrill not want to speak up? Were the banks fully without fault, why Merrill did fire these guys instead of standing behind them?

(AP) Two top Merrill Lynch & Co. executives have been fired for declining to testify about transactions conducted with Enron Corp., the brokerage said Wednesday.

Vice chairman Thomas Davis and Schuyler Tilney, an investment banking director who oversaw matters related to Enron, both declined to testify for investigations by the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Merrill Lynch said in a statement. (cont)
