You're correct. I just threw in the term "socialism" to goose my old sparring partner.

Of course, one could say the same about Medicare: Contribute to the betterment of society (by working) and to your own physical well-being (by living to age 65), and Uncle Sam will reward you in your later years by defraying some of your health-care costs.

I like your approach better. Medicare isn't a socialist program; it's an incentive program.
