Dear Flapjack: Well, you may know I am a retired CPA and I know something about pension plans. Defined Benefit plans are SO EXPENSIVE only the Govt employees seem to get them much anymore. Plus the bookkeeping involved is HORRENDOUS. So, I really cant blame a company for wanting to get off them. I can assure you though there are severe Federal Laws protecting the benefits of workers. Now, naturally, if you could get a Def. Ben plan at no cost to yourself WHY NOT, hell I would like to have one. But truth is it is uncompetitive today for the company. They didnt lie to you. JDN
