you Bush haters would be calling him dumb.

As Dubya would say, "If the shoe fits, ...uh...
put it in the closet."

Just funnin'. Sorry about that. <g>

Turning the topic back to quarterbacks with that special something that Montana had.

I thought about it for a while. It was hard to come up with many.

Not sure that Elway had it although he had an awful lot of 4th quarter comebacks like Montana did. Perhaps he was close.

I don't think Steve Young had it, although he was very good.

Same with Dan Marino. He had a ton of talent but lacked the coolness under pressure in the big game.

Brett Favre comes pretty darn close. Seems to have as much fun as Montana had if not more. He makes that team player better than they really are. They feed off of him.

Jim Kelly never had it. Could not win the big one. Got close but no cigar.

Payton Manning has a ton of talent but don't know if he's got that special something.

I'm still questioning the Ram's Kurt Warner. A precision passer but does he have that special something?

The one quarterback right now who might really have it could be that Tom Brady from the NE Patriots. Something about him seems special. It's early still. He's one to keep an eye on.

My other eye will be on Michael Vick from the Atlanta Falcons. He sure seems to have a ton of talent. Hopefully he's got the smarts too. He could be a record breaker.
It's way too early to tell.

Anyone know of any that I'm missing. Perhaps Bradshaw?

Disagree with any of these?

How about some older QB's before my time?

Just barely remember seeing Joe Namath play. He was sort of beaten up by then.

Oh yeah, possibly Staubach and Tarkenton. I was fairly young but remember how good those guys were.

Never saw Johnny U play ball. I only saw some old tapes of him on ESPN Classic.
