Yes Ramsey, the SUV effect is working like a charm. To ensure tax deductibility of your trip, can you please investigate the interest in 80211.b in Portugal? I recommend a trip to the Algarve algarvenet.com to see if tourists are carting around 80211.b gadgets looking for a 'hotspot'.

While you are goofing off, I am here, with no tax deductions, in dubious climatic conditions, doing the real work investigating a very serious urban competitor of cdma2000: Message 18014065

RoamAD has got an 80211b network up and running in downtown Auckland, based on Cisco equipment and RoamAD's proprietary software which does great tricks to enable data and voice to be seamlessly available inside their coverage area.

4 base stations in contact, 3 millisecond handoff to the next one, works fine driving down the street, better coverage than cdma2000 [Telecom's 1xRTT network], very much cheaper, all gung ho and ready to go.

Their plan is to build 100km2 covering more of Auckland, and similar for central metropolitan Wellington and Christchurch. That'll be the demo commercial systems. Then, next stop, Tokyo, London, Noo Yawk, Beijing, Berlin, Hamburg, Stockholm, Helsinki, Athens, Milan, Rome and towns between, by way of licensing their technology to infrastructure suppliers such as NEC.

If there's something wrong with the idea, I can't find it. 330kbps now, with upgrades to the 80211 stuff simple as higher speeds become standardized.

So, I need to know whether to sell all my QUALCOMM shares and give it to these guys.

Happy travels,
Mqurice
