greetings Cary,

I have not posted on the threads for a while. You said it right about suffering in this market. I am trading/holding stocks unsuccessfully. I am sitting on a ton of LLTC, MXIM, AMAT. I am in and out of NVLS. Nothing seems to work. I have been trading actively since early ninties. But real fun started in 1996 after the bitter lesson in summer when I had lost almost everything. Since then I had been cashing in at the end of year and paying taxes. I did well all those years. Even last year was a profitable one.

This year it is another story. My trading/investing has core stocks lltc, amat, nvls, mxim, then I trade xlnx, altr, orcl, and occasionally amgn, bgen and genz. I did try sunw, fortunately got out with a minor scratch. 90 percent of trades/investing is done in lltc, mxim, amat , nvls, I have been doing this since 96.

This year the story is very different. I am down 60% this year. Fortunately, I have a good job, house paid for and a pension plan which is not dependent on the market. That said, I am worried about the stock market for the first time. I am sure mxim, amat lltc and nvls will survive but before we seen any significan gains we will see lot of pain.

I think mxim, lltc may have reached bottom bookings. The semi's have to turn around first before semi caps can turn.
If we go down significantly from here I may sell some stocks and start buying leaps.
