turning down a peace agreement which would have given Palestinian people their own state

Clinton was always on the sending side of things jambed down one's throat.

It is clear that Arrafat was not willing to accept checkerboard state that was presented. Arrafat has been put literally in a small box with only one way out over many years by Israel's peace discussions. What as transpired in Ramallel recently is just a physical continuation of that policy.
I am not going to get into Arrafats terrorial demands/ PLO charter documents et al. PA has no other recourse to insist on 1967 borders based on simple chart of number of Israeli settlers on West BAnk vs number of Palestinians homes torn down over the years to see what Israel's end game to it's current impasse on peace settlements. It is clear it is in Israel's interest to delay any real peace discussions if it seeks a larger Israel. Settlements can be easily built under the barrel of a gun and behind a large fence.
These actions creates an ever larger supply of Palestinians maryters without much additional provocation from Arrafat or PA. In response to the increased Palestinian terror attacks and that is exactly what they are, Israel has reached the point of complete dehumanization campaign of the entire Palistinian people under the easy cover of Bush's war on terrorism.

Only thing I know is that things have to get worse for both sides before things will get better.
