One thing many other nations don't like about our warring on Iraq is the prospect that we will end up sitting in the center of the middle east with a military presence, all the bases we could want so that we don't have to pay them off for flyover rights, and a whole lot of oil. This puts a ton of pressure on Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia (and the extremists they support) that wasn't there before. We don't need to be as cozy with the Russians or Saudis for oil and we are competitively stronger vis' a vis the europeans.
