The truth is, that very few countries transition from colony to Democracy smoothly. But once independence is granted, you can't just take it back if the new government proves to be incompetent, corrupt, or killers, down the road. I don't have a problem with it, but would you be prepared to grant full U.S. Citizenship to every Filipino and Cuban? Or since you've advocated colonizing Iraq, granting U.S. Citizenship to every Iraqi?
