I'm not convinced of the case for imperialism today. Picking countries to exploit or reform is to me like kicking a tarbaby or stoning a hornet's nest. There seems to be an assumption in this grand adventure that the rest of the world will remain more or less the same as we poke and prod the victim of our choice. Instead I think this nation will have to resort to an ever increasing cycle of bribes and threats to maintain stability as more people see a limit placed on their hopes and dreams. TP
