T.,

This is how the war on terrorism will be lost. Politicians like Daschle will always put partisan politics ahead of homeland security. After all, it's not Daschle's head on a platter if America allows another 9/11. It's Bush's. Daschle knows this, too.

Looking at it another way, it is hard to claim credit for preventing another 9/11 like event from happening again. If it doesn't happen as a result of American actions since 9/11, the skeptics will say that things we did didn't matter, and that another tragedy would not have happened anyway.

The same way as the liberals are now trying to take away Reagan's credit for winning the Cold War. They say the Soviet Block was going to fold anyway. BTW, I lived there 18 years, and it didn't look that way to me.

Joe

Actually, partisan politics is VERY American, and Daschle is doing his civic duty.

I have no issue with tough politicians, liberal or conservative.

I have a real problem with what Daschle did today. Because his partisanship became more important than the interest of the nation. And the same thing happened with Gore earlier in the week.

Actually, though, these politicians do, as you say, often put their political futures ahead of the national interest (no better example exists than Robert Byrd and his incredible Pork Barreling). But this is all just sort of magnified because of the gravity of 9/11.

We tolerate a lot from these people. But I sincerely hope the American people will look at what Daschle did today and feel just as sick about it as I did.

Ted, <Its unbelievable that they have the balls to call Daschle unAmerican.>

Tenchusatsu, I am afraid you have Daschle all wrong. Others on this thread call it partisanship so they don't have to really think about what he said. However, it wasn't partisanship; it was calling out a wrong. Mr. Bush is forgetting what the presidency is supposed to be. If anyone was partisan, it was Bush.
