But its not mainstream Islam!

I assume you are a Muslim. I can understand your pain with this. But, whatever the numbers, the "Tail is wagging the Dog." This is like a virus that has infected the host, and it is spread thoughout Islam.

I certainly don't want to see try to fight all of Islam. But wherever these "Fundamentalists" appear to oppose us, we are going to have to fight. There is no real way to be "PC" about it.

"blame the extremists, not the religion"

There are troubling passages in the Koran which seem to suggest that forcible conversion is part of Islam. However, I don't know enough about the Koran as a whole, so I try to keep an open mind.

I don't believe there is any passage in the New Testament that justifies killing people in the name of Christ, or forcing them to convert. I think this was something that seemed like a good idea at the time, and now is rejected by all. So, once people came to their senses, it wasn't difficult to give it up.

People have used the Bible to justify horrible acts, not just war, but torture, slavery, the subjugation of women, mistreatment of children and employees. Bad stuff. Completely antithetical to Christ's own teachings.

What were they thinking?

Back to Islam -- it seems that the Koran prohibits most of the bad things that some Muslims do. But doesn't it justify forcible conversion?
