I have always pushed isolationism on SI I used to also. Along with some other "Libertarian" ideas that are too "Utopian" to be implemented in the next 100 years. I now deplore the fact that they can't be implemented, and get on with what can. So what's your solution, make it illegal for anything but the right wing to be in power? Ahh, if I were King! I don't have to. The Israeli's figured out what would work and are doing it. They had to have an American Government that would allow them to do it. I believe that "Force Works! It takes other methods with it, but it will put down the problem. I have no doubt that 9/11 would never have happened if we had not been such a "Pitiful, Helpless, Giant" with the Arabs the last 20 years. Your "Laundry List" of "Cassandra" things that will happen if we use force, are a lot more likely to happen if we don't, IMO. Finally, to reiterate, your "Isolation" solution is "Utopian" and will never be implemented.
