Yep, it's Katha Pollitt’s July 22 New Yorker essay "Learning to Drive," so you will be able to see it at the library. It could be called Getting Revenge By Making Your Ex Lover Look Like a Cad, or, according my friend who called to say, "GO READ KP's PIECE IN THE NYer!," it's more embarrassing to her.

I think it's kind of embarrassing to her to be so clueless, in a certain way, and, in her extremely PC circles, it's embarrassing to allow onesself to be so hurt by a male, and so emotionally needy; but since she confesses so much, so openly, I think it's much more embarrassing to him. Think how his students will look at him now. Goodness.

She wasn't too nice about the women with whom he was carrying on affairs during their time together. I mean, meow, really.
