Recently the hospital authority in Hong Kong cut the wages of the nursing staff by 17% in order to save USD 300,000. I suggested to my correspondent that the authority fire himself rather than cut the wages of 1,700 human beings. The result would have been exactly the same fiscally. My correspondent was apoplectic that I would think so logically. OK, so that wasn't the joke. George Bush is the joke: "Getting a lesson from George Bush on business ethics?
