"Weekly Leading Index Slips September 27, 2002 NEW YORK, Sept 27 (Reuters) - U.S. economic growth is suffering from a prolonged bout of weakness, a report showed on Friday, but is well above conditions normally considered recessionary. The Economic Cycle Research Institute's weekly gauge of U.S. economic activity dipped to 119.0 in the week ended Sept. 20 from 119.3 in the previous week. The index's growth rate, which smooths out weekly fluctuations, fell to 0.1 percent from 0.5 percent in the preceding week."
