No man should be a judge in his own case. The only way to keep honest is to be willing to submit to external judgment, in principle. Again, as a practical matter there may be no trustworthy tribunal available, but at least one should strive for objectivity before an "idealized tribunal" of conscience.

Yes, it requires leisure. It is one of the advantages of societies on the path to civilization over primitive societies.

I do not require a scientific study. The experience of societies wherein women are emancipated is enough. They have proven competent and capable of handling responsibility in a manner similar to men.........

Even with an external set of rules we are basically self serving. We just choose to be self serving to an external master, instead of an inner one. But in heeding either one we are serving our self, for who else would we serve? The choice we make will make us feel righteous and fulfilled, or antisocial and fulfilled, or somethign else altogether, but it doesn't matter-and the choice imo doesn't matter, any choice will be self serving.
