They've got to do better than what they are offering.
Too many trusts of trusts out there offering a better
deal even with the broker's fee. The IPO price needs to
drop back so the trust offers around ten percent, I would
think. I, too, have some of these trusts of trusts, but, now, as I've learned more, I wonder why one bothers. It
is just as easy to look at a number of them, pick their
top holdings in each category and buy those trusts, preferreds, etc. That way one isn't paying two management
fees. I haven't had time but when I do, I'm going to take
a look at the return some of the trusts of trusts are
getting compared to what they are paying out. I realize
that trusts of trusts are an easy way to diversify but
I'm wondering about the cost. The managers take big fees
and I wonder what for. How much expertise does it take to
set up a company, buy a bunch of other trusts and sit back
and collect the income.
