You can have your requirements, but they are "yours". Some people don't have the same requirements- I've no idea why they don't, I merely observe that people expect very different things. Words from someone, imo, have very little impact on an action or lack thereof. So if someone is late, they are still late even if they effusively apologize. I don't really care about the apology. I guess it helps me make a determination about whether they will be late next time, maybe, but not really- because sometimes your best apologizers are chronically late. So, for me, it comes down to a complicated balancing of what I want from the person (do I enjoy them? do I need them for my professional development? etc) and how inconvenient they are.
