"the southern shores are high and with rockies." Such are the perils of translation. English used to be a much harder language to learn before rock-and-roll music went worldwide. I suspect that the intended word is "rookeries".

"elk fish/elkfish". Couldn't find that one in a search engine. A translation problem again. Norwegians have a fish they call 'breiflabb', translated on menus to 'monkfish'. The fish is delicious, but it does not beckon to any cannibalistic tendencies.

"BREIFLABB - GRILLED MONKFISH 223,-
Grillet breiflabb med marinerte tomater, sprøstekt bacon, ruccula salat og søtpoteter.
Grilled monkfish served with marinated tomatoes, crispy bacon, ruccula salad and sweet potatoes."
stavangernettet.no

At 7.5 NKr/USD, that's $29.75 for the entree.

Add this for your appetizer, and you have a delightful meal for just $43 total (plus tax/tip of course).
"GRAVLAKS - MARINATED SALMON 99,-
Vår verdensberømte gravlaks, serveres med sennepssaus og rugbrød.
Traditionally marinated Norwegian salmon, served with rye bread and mustard sauce."

Desserts start at another $10 and then drinks, not cheap either.

I do recommend Sjohuset Skagen .. great food, excellent atmosphere. Reservations needed for dinner. And if you drink, take a taxi to your next destination.
