Ok, how could Clinton have released Pollard without a pardon?

It's simple. He's President of the US; he directs the Federal Pen to release him. The Administration informs the Israeli embassy to pick him up at the gate and get him out of the country.

We used to do that with the Soviets all the time. There were no pardons, we exchanged spies, we made deals, there's no pardon involved.
