nuclear power plants.... gas pipeline from Alaska to the lower 48,

Guess who would stop that dead in it's tracks, Hawkmoon. I see that GM has a fuel cell model out.

>>>In August General Motors released the first pictures of a prototype car called the Hy-wire, a fusion of technologies that re-imagines how cars look, operate and drive. Hy-wire is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, a technology that was used in the lunar lander and one that every automaker are trying to adapt for cars. Automakers envision the technology as a potential solution to their skirmishes with environmental groups<<<<<

Wonder how many Boomers, including those in Bollywood, are cutting back on the lemo's, the SUV's, 6 (or more cars in the garage, etc....) Would be interesting to see how many cars and the type used by the vocal Hollywood folks...

From the looks of these articles, the SUV's, and the soccer mom's and dad's who drive them are a good place to start in suggesting the cutback their usage of gas.

a>>>>>>>>>>>We are amused when visitors write to us ask what effect the boomers are having on the economy. Folks, in 2002, the economy IS the boomers! We represent the vast majority of the work force. There are 76 million of us; we ARE the economy. (That is not bragging; that is just a statistical reality.) The huge growth in the economy in the 90's was due in no small part to 76 million of us working up to our peak earning and spending years. What are we spending our money on? Other than Metallica CD's and movies aimed at 15 year-olds, whatever is being sold... we are buying it. What kind of cars are we buying? What kind are Detroit and Japan selling? We ARE the upper end of the automobile market. What explains the explosion in the popularity of SUV's? We do. Where do we go on vacation? Everywhere. How do we get there? Every way possible.<<<<<<<<<<

And re: Gas Mileage:

12-16 MPG ....SUV's
