"They want to bid and get out bid and then bid again on their own."

I think this may apply to e-bay newbies, but once people figure out the game, they know that's not the way to play it. As a buyer, you'll help your own cause by showing no interest in it until the end.

I personally think the advent of watch lists has affected bidding. Before the "watch this item" feature came about, you had to bid on something to have a convenient way to track it. I used to bid early just for that reason. Now you can just "Watch It," so there's no reason to bid before the end of the auction.

The flip side of that would be the "plants" world wide that can and probably do bid up the items for their associates.

I'd rather deal with a sniper than a plant any day.....the sniper only gets one shot at screwing you....the plant can make you pay repeatedly....

I've bought approx $20k worth of stuff from Ebay over the last 3 years and if sniping ends, so do I.

Bill, sniping is what works, that's why people do it. I fail to see a problem with that. As a seller, of course I would like to get more for an item, but it is what it is, a snipers money is as good as anyone elses. I don't think a settle time would change matters much. If they create a 5 minute settle time what is going to happen 5 minutes and 10 seconds before the end?
