That's the gov't line, that we need national caretakers for our charity.
We locals would do a better job than corrupt national "leadership"

I certainly agree we need national rule of law, and as TR clearly saw, we need a big stick at the national level to expose and bring to justice the large corporate frauds and thievery. That doesn't exist, unfortunately it's instead the "big carrot" as lobbyists tell politicians what to do, while stuffing money in their pockets.

But for charity the locals are more honest and accessible, and more effective at creating a sense of community, and creating greater support.

Certainly not the CEOs that are hand-in-glove with Washington, tho'. They and gov't are together in the business of scamming America and hiding the truth.

The wealthy already get their trillions from gov't and the people.
It's the rest of us who would benefit from a reduction in gov't-sponsored "charity" as would the charitable.
Gov't gets nothing from the top 1%, since they get many times more in welfare for the rich than what they pay in taxes.
Cut gov't, and the wealthy would have to work a little harder (but not much).
