Shootie, Human nature and inexperience allow snipers to do their thing. With everyone setting their proxy to their personal max for that item the snipers and their sites would not work anymore, unlees the snipe came in above all others.

The purpose of a snipe is to deny people the ability to look at the price, and then increase their bid.
With sniping all has to be proxy operated.

Many people do not use proxy, that is why ebay suffers.
Too many people have lost to snipers at the last second as they bid and wait and bid again manually.
They get pissed off and go away.

Average price would go back up with a end of auction delay.

Ever wonder why the rise of sniping/sites/programs = decline of Ebay.

Of course, the snipers fear the end of their specialty and come with all manner of blather against it. yet all it will do is add 5 minute or so to the auction.
Whay are they so afraid of it?
