Why do you consider the opinion of the UN relevant to the security of the US. Was the US removed from the Civil Right Committee of the UN based of the learned informed opinions of the UN members? Does the US need anyone to win in Iraq? Do you believe any would rise up to join Iraq? Does the massive land area of Iraq governed by guy who once tried to kill a President a great place for terrorist to thrive.

I have no idea what "to go it alone in Iraq could easily
lead to a much more chaotic and hostile world than we have experienced in many decades "

I cannot see a rational scenario. 3000 Americans are dead, the mega attack has occurred. Destroying those who think that way is the only way to prevent future mega attacks.

I say any who think Saddam does not think that way are fools and if the UN expresses the opinions of fools the UN is not relevant.

Destroying Saddam is easy by the US alone. Setting up a stable democracy with or without the help of the UN will be hard. But setting up more stable democracies breeds tolerance and less chaos. Democracies are really the enemy of many countries in the world.

Dear Ken: I suspect Bush knows something he cant tell us without disclosing how he found out. I hope I am wrong and you are right. But, I honestly dont think the man would do something dastardly just for office, unlike most, I doubt even the Presidency is that important to him. IE he is not IMHO mad for Power.
As to economics, seems to me the Senate blocks every move he makes, the latest being trying to get fast track authority for foreign trade. I feel he was looking for a quick fix. As you know, I believe this is just a cycle thing and I do not blame him, anymore then I give Clinton credit for the great times we had. I do place some blame on Greenspan and if you remember A LONG TIME AGO when he made that LAST 1/2% hike I SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER on the SUNW thread. jdn
