I think it was clearly a catch. He went up, got hold of the ball at one end, and it was clearly sliding out as he landed on his feet. He then fell backwards (ball still loose but sort of half pinned against the side of his abdomen) as he was rolling from a sideways to horizontal position.....all this time the ball was sort of pinned to his side (not under control yet but not on the ground either). His body was rotating so that when he hit the ground his entire back was across the ground and his numbers were straight up. This is when the ball "hit".....but what it hit was his body, not the ground IMO. He did not have it under control until after it hit his body, but at that point he trapped it against his numbers and gained control. Every angle I saw showed this. There was one angle they didn't have which would have conclusive shown whether the tip of the ball grazed the ground as his body was turning and he was landing....but it sure didn't look like that could have happened from the angles they had.
