Why do you suppose Congress would be better at coming up with accurate figures than The Congressional Budget Office, whose sole purpose is to factor in all information to come up with reasonable estimates. In fact they have come up with per month costs ranging from 6 billion to 9 billion. Those aren't "loose" numbers...a new one on me LOLOL.

What do you mean by support of our soldiers was withheld in Vietnam. As I recall the M16 rifles were defective and cost lives as a result of the fact they jammed. It took a year to get that problem fixed. Dropping agent orange on our own soldiers was disastrous. I did think it was terrible that those who thought the lives of our men was expendable also turned their backs on them when those boys came home and even now as they deride those men whose service to this country destroyed their lives.

By the end of his term Johnson wanted out of Vietnam. After he won, Nixon proceeded to carry that war on for another six years, illegally going into Cambodia and Laos.
