Yeah that is a subsection of the ultra-orthodox community in Israel. But they would argue that the universities get government funds too and if you look at the sociology of science, science may be just as irrational as religion.... The universities get far more money per student. The majority of the Orthodox in Israel and elsewhere are very productive. Yeah they have a lot of children especially in Israel. The Israeli government gives everyone plenty of child allowances for as many children as they want. You don't need to be orthodox to get them. And anyone who doesn't serve in the army doesn't get the subsidised mortgages available to veterans. David
