If the McGovern plan of declaring victory and going home had been followed it would have saved the 7 years of fighting and the expansion of the war to neighboring countries. Who knows the implications, perhaps Cambodia would be importing cars to us instead of tiptoeing around land mines and skulls. The Vietnam memorial would be a lot shorter and that could hurt the Washington tourist business.
